Planes Trains Automobiles

Cars - The Early Years offers an unusual perspective on 75 years of automotive history, from Benz motorcars through two World Wars, affluence and economic crisis, through the 1950s. From its inception, photographers have captured the development of the automobile: its rapid conquering of the world is illuminated and impressively documented here. Trains - The Early Years visually documents how distance was conquered by rail. Pioneers were able to traverse great stretches with steam locomotives; ingenious engineers developed gigantic steel horses for longer and longer rail networks. From the Orient Express to the Trans-Siberian Railway, the world as a whole became smaller, because no horizon seemed too far. Wonderful images of locomotives moving at full speed through remote and picturesque landscapes are persuasive evidence. Motor Racing - The Early Years shows one of the most spectacular sports in the world in its earliest stages. Competition between automobiles quickly became a spectacle of glamour and money, as well as a fight amongst manufacturers for prestige and recognition.
