Magazines & Journals

March 2023

Human impact on the environment is direct and, in some cases, irreversible. Pollution can affect the air we breathe, our soil and our waterways, causing significant damage to ecosystems, loss of

biodiversity, and global warming. This issue touches on these concerns.

Our cover artist, Tai Snaith, introduces the theme with a playful yet educational painting from her series Hierarchy of needs. The artist explores the different needs of her favourite creatures, from food and water to play and work, with a focus on the important roles these animals play in Earth’s biodiversity. Within this issue, works either highlight the damage caused by humans and the importance of nature, or interpret and present looming and new futures. Others merely depict the current beauty of the landscape and its inhabitants in appreciation.
